She always has so much to say
Ida is the name I gave my ideas.
Ida is my inspiration. She’s my characters yammering dialogue at me just as I lie in bed, about to drift off to sleep. She’s my color palette for a new painting, the direction the pen takes in my line drawing, the surprise ingredient in my butternut squash soup.
Even as a kid, Ida was always there with words for a poem, a story, a play. Then later for screenplays, photographs, jokes, and an occasional song. Now for paintings, abstract and surreal, drawings, cartoons, and wild lines. Collage and filmmaking, blogging and line after line of dialogue.
I feel lucky to have such an active relationship with Ida. She’s always been there for me and I trust that she will never leave. I can feel her in me so as long as I’m here, so is she. And maybe even after my body ceases to exist, me and Ida, we will travel off into whatever dimensions await us and continue our collaboration for eternity.
I love Ida with the heat of a thousand suns.
But a gal’s gotta sleep.
